Reflections from the 4th ICCM

The 4th International Conference on Clinical Microdialysis (4th ICCM) was a great success with over 270 delegates from across the globe. There were over 100 interesting lectures covering a variety of clinical Microdialysis applications. The meeting was held at Robinson College, Cambridge and hosted by Prof. Urban Ungerstedt of the Karolinska Institutet and Mr. Peter Hutchinson of Cambridge University. Sponsors included CMA Microdialysis, ProbeScientific and Technicam.

Following the introductory session on Advances in Clinical Microdialysis the meeting was split up into four parallel sessions: Monitoring the Brain, Monitoring the Abdomen, Monitoring the Tissues and New frontiers in Tissue monitoring. Each session ended with a panel discussion and a consensus among the senior colleagues. A Microdialysis abdomen/gastro focus group was initiated under the management of Dr. Jyrki Tenhunen. For more details, please contact  Jyrki.Tenhunen@pshp.fi

At the adjacent exhibition, CMA Microdialysis launched a number of new products including the new IView Catheter for intravenous monitoring, the CMA 66 Linear Catheter for dermatology reserach and diagnostics and the CMA 31 Linear Probe with high cut-off.

An abstract book has been printed and is available for order through info@iccm4.com . The ambition is to keep the ICCM website, www.iccm4.com alive as a forum for future discussions in preparations for the next meeting, scheduled for 2010.
