The sterile, single use CMA 61 Hepatic Microdialysis Catheter allows continuous monitoring of the hepatic tissue metabolism. The dialysing membrane of the CMA 61 Hepatic Microdialysis Catheter is designed to achieve excellent diffusion characteristics, allowing a high recovery of substances from the extra cellular fluid.
The CMA 61 Catheter has a shaft length of 310 mm and a 30 mm membrane. During open surgery the catheter is introduced into the abdominal cavity by using the tunnelating needle. Insertion into the liver is achieved with the help of a splitable introducer. After insertion into the transplanted liver the catheter is sutured to the falciform ligament. The catheter can be implanted for several days.
The catheter inlet tubing is connected to a CMA Microdialysis Pump and the outlet ends in a microvial which collects the sample. The samples can be analyzed in the CMA Microdialysis Analyzer for Glucose, Lactate, Pyruvate, Glycerol, Glutamate and Urea or sent to the laboratory for further analysis.
